What kind of course is it?
This course is trans-modality. It’s not a ‘model’ of therapy, as such. But the training is focused on being neuroaffirming, culturally attuned, trauma-informed, and social-justice minded, - focussing on the wellbeing of autistic clients. We welcome therapists with all backgrounds and training perspectives as there isn't only one modality that 'works' for autistic clients. This course is to help you to make sense of how you already conceptualise therapy and as an extra layer of awareness to applying in your work as a therapist with autistic adult clients.
The Course is Starting March 15th 2025, on selected Saturdays, and finished by End of May. The full description and list of dates, are on the course page and you can also see video clips from the last times the course was running (actual video clips of the segments of training from then).
Quote from Vanguard Neurodiversity Training: "We take the positionality of the bio-psycho-social model, rather than the medical model, in all that we believe in. The course presentations are around big subjects, such as energy management, relationships, minority stress, knowing the self and meeting needs, workplace, trauma, burnout, being a human being, the history of autism as it relates to us therapists, and much more.
